In response to feedback from members it will include presentations on both a specific theme (see below) and on any recent activity concerning the interpretation, care and conservation of textiles. Half of the day will be devoted to papers on the theme of storage under the title:
From boxes to buildings: creative solutions for the storage of textiles and dress
Potential topics include new materials or approaches, evaluating previous methods, moving to new facilities, housing unusual or hazardous collections, working with storage specialists, and opening up stores to the public.
The other half of the day will be made available for presentations on any current or recent area of practice, research or evaluation.
Presentations can be up to 25 minutes duration. Postprints will be produced for this conference. Posters are also welcome.
Please send abstracts of no more than 200 words along with the length of time slot you prefer (if a presentation) and your contact details to Alison Lister by Monday 5th December 2016. Please feel free to contact Alison, or any other committee member if you would like to discuss your idea for a paper before submitting the abstract.
